Water Protection
Continental is committed to responsible and safe use of well completion technologies by emphasizing wellbore integrity, disclosing its stimulation fluids, and protecting water resources. Continental designs, builds, and maintains its wellbores in accordance with state regulatory requirements. Multiple barriers of cement and steel encase the wellbore of a well to protect groundwater.
Continental has also been a leader in informing the public about the chemicals we use in well completion operations. Before it was required by many states, we voluntarily disclosed this information to FracFocus, a national, publicly accessible Internet-based registry developed by the Ground Water Protection Council and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Continental works with its service companies to disclose the chemicals we use in completion processes on all wells we operate.
