Emissions Management
Continental’s dedication to managing emissions is a core element of our HSE Program. We are focused on the reduction of all emissions through innovative facility design and responsible operations as well as a robust inspection program. We work with our midstream partners to reduce flaring of associated gas and are implementing new emissions reduction technologies for fugitive emissions.
Continental has established operating practices to minimize emissions while providing environmental training to our employees to ensure they understand and implement these processes; we then monitor our continuous improvement with quantitative measurement. We utilize cross-functional teams to frequently review these operating practices and evaluate potential emission reduction opportunities.
We are members of numerous industry groups such as The Environmental Partnership with the idea of collaborating and learning from peers. This serves as a valuable tool for learning new methods for reducing emissions as well as sharing our learnings as we implement advanced technologies and designs into our facilities.
This “all of the above” approach to emissions management has helped Continental reduce emissions significantly while at the same time increasing the amount of energy we produce.
